STANDING COMMITTEES

 

1. Responsibility

Each Standing Committee thru its Chairman is responsible to the Consistory with monthly reports unless otherwise specified.

2. Duties of Standing Committee Chairman

 

Acolyte - To secure Acolytes for each service of worship and to notify each in writing in sufficient time for approval or rejection.

 

Building and Grounds - To oversee the cleanliness and maintenance of all buildings and grounds of the congregation other than the cemetery. To supervise the work of the custodian. In the event of a vacancy in custodian, to contract, interview and recommend to the Consistory a person for hiring.       In the event of unsatisfactory work by the Custodian, to recommend dismissal.

 

Christian Education - To assist and direct the Christian Education Committee in preparing a program for Christian Education in the church.

 

Christian Mission - To be concerned for the promotion of our church's mission beyond the local church, our support of Our Christian World Mission and to advise Consistory accordingly.

 

Cemetery - To form a Cemetery Board and thru its Chairman submit to the Consistory a quarterly report and an annual report to the congregation.

 

Fellowship - To plan and coordinate the social and fund raising activities of the church.

 

Finance - To be concerned with the proper handling of all church funds, development of good stewardship practices and methods of giving, and preparing the annual budget and audit.

 

Insurance - To be familiar with all the insurance coverage of the church. To have knowledge of the premiums, extent of coverage, length of policy and when payments are due.

 

Music - To consult with the Board of Elders in the supervision of the work of the organist and choirmaster. To contact, interview and recommend to the Consistory a person for hiring. In the event of unsatisfactory work by the organist, or choirmaster, to recommend dismissal.

 

Ushers - To secure ushers for each service of worship as required. To supervise their instructions and to notify each in writing in sufficient time for approval or rejection.

3. Policy of Standing Committees

A copy of policy for each standing committee is on file in the office.

4. Each Standing committee, in addition to the Chairman, may have as many members as the program would require. Members to each committee should be selected upon advice from the Consistory and congregation.
