REV. GOTTLIEB EISEN

1895-1896

The Rev. Eisen came to Dexter from Chelsea to become pastor of St. Andrews in 1895 He purchased the horse, Julia, from the Rev. Haag and traveled to Dexter each Sunday to preach.

In 7_896 he accepted a call to become supervisor of the German Protestant Home for Orphans and 01d People in Detroit. He later served parishes in Three Oaks, Galien and St. Johns until his retirement in 1917 when he moved back to Chelsea.

The Rev. Eisen was born in Zurich Switzerland February 7, 1843 He was married to Albertina Leinbacher They had three children, Adolph, Theopholis and Hannah (Schoen). Mrs. Eisen died in Dexter at the age of ninety years. She and her husband, their three children and their spouses, are all buried in Chelsea
