![]() REV. CARL HAAG, 1888-1895 The Rev. Carl Haag served both St.. Paul’s Church in Chelsea and St. Andrews in Dexter. He preached his first sermon in Dexter in July 1888 traveling from Chelsea with his horse, Julia. His salary while serving i n Dexter was $300 per year. The Ladies Aid was organized in 1891 during his pastorate and a frame school house was erected on the church grounds where the Rev. Haag taught classes in German. Mrs. Haag was once a teacher in the public school in Chelsea On January 22 , 1895 the family went to St. Johns parish in Port Huron, Michigan .While here their son, at age Fourteen, drowned in the St, C1air River in 1904 Their daughter Helena, was married to Dr. Ernest G. Tillmanns in 1914 in Port Huron. |
