![]() REV. JOHN FRANKLIN ROSCHEN: 1968-1972 Previous to arriving at St. Andrews the Rev. Roschen had served Immanuel Memorial and Peace Parish U.C.C. in A1den and Buckeye, Iowa from July t, 1963 until April 30, 1968. He preached his first sermon at St. Andrews on May 1968. During his pastorate in Dexter he stressed family programs and Christian Education. Later, by letter he recalled "the fun times with the church youth, especially our learning trips to Chicago in 1969, St. Louis in 1970 and Louisville in 1971." Pastor Roschen also said he "appreciated the freedom of the pulpit" at St. Andrews and spoke on many issues of the day "approaching each from a biblical perspective." During his pastorate property across from the church on Fourth Street at Inverness Street was acquired for a parking lot. The Rev. Roschen, born in Mankato Minnesota July 2:?, 1938, was a 1956 graduate of LeSueur High School in LeSueur, Minnesota, earned a B.A. degree from McAlester College in St. Paul in 1950 and three years later earned his B.D. degree from Oberlin College Graduate School of Theology in Oberlin, Ohio. He was married to Marion Irene Theleman. They have two children, Mark Edwin born in 1965 and Elizabeth Jan born 1969. On September 12, 1972 he resigned from St. Andrews and was given a farewell dinner for his family in November. He accepted a call as co-pastor at the Associated Church, U.C.C. Presbyterian in Owatonna, Minnesota. He later went to the Mizpah U.C.C. in Hopkins, Minnesota in 1984 and that same year earned a D. MIn degree at the United Theological Seminary of the Twin Cities, New Brighton, Minnesota. |
