REV. HERBERT H. SCHOWE: 1948-1956

The Rev. Schowe left Houston, Texas to come to Dexter. He assumed his pastoral duties at St. Andrews March l, 1948 He had previously served in Beasley and Cottonwood, Texas, San Antonio and in Elliston Ohio.

The Rev. Schowe was born May 12, 1905 in New Bremen, Ohio and was educated at Elmhurst College and Eden 'theological- Seminary, Webster Grove, Missouri. HE was ordained June 17, 1929 at St. Paul's Evangelical and Reformed Church in Bremen, Ohio and four days later was married to Helen Waeseh. They had a son, James and a daughter, Mrs. Susan Helgeson.

While in Dexter Mrs. Schowe served as choir director. in May 1951 the construction of a new parsonage was begun and was dedicated the following year.
