![]() REV. JOHN SUNBURN 1981-1986 The Rev. Sunburn came to St. Andrews in June 1q81 and was installed on November 1 after transferring from the fairlane West United Church of Christ in Akron, Ohio. During his pastorate St. Andrews celebrated one-hundred years since the first church was built and members formally organized as well as the burning of the mortgage on the second church. He was a graduate of Duke University, the Minnesota School_ of Economics and was ordained at the Hartford Seminary foundation. He also was a graduate of the Air War College , W. S. Air Force. As a 1st. Kt. he served as a chaplain. After twenty-three years as a reserve chaplain he retired from the air force. Serving throughout the country, he had worked at a state hospital in Connecticut, a prison in Alabama, a military prison for alcoholics and drug abusers. His wife Carolyn was the daughter of a Lutheran minister who served in the Orient. She grew up in China and was a high school graduate from an American Mission High School in Korea. They had three daughters. Pastor Sunburn conducted final services at St. Andrews April 30, 1995 before going to the Pilgrim Congregational Church in Billings, Montana. |
