Song of Jubilee

By Ray W. Dempsey

(Sung to the tune of #549: Mine Eyes Have Seen the Glory)

Since St. Andrews church was built

A century has gone

Succeeding generations

Have helped to keep it strong

In praise of all their efforts

We, our voices raise in song

Their Spirit still lives on.

Chorus

There is only one foundation

There is only one foundation

There is only one foundation

Jesus Christ our Lord

Those faithful men and women

Have gone to meet their Lord;

They have our admiration

For their witness to the Word.

In the pages of church history

Their voices still are heard

The Church still carries on.

Chorus

Yet wood and stone are not the church

It's the saints and they alone

A crowd of true believers

With Christ the cornerstone.

The saints who built St. Andrew's

Have all been taken home

Their church still carries on.

Chorus

 With the Spirit guiding,

The faith of men sufficed

Upon the great foundation stone

To build the church of Christ.

The gates of hell shall not prevail

Nor prejudice nor strife

O'er the church our Lord ordained

Chorus

St. Andrew's Church is standing

Where stood the Church of old

Christ is still the cornerstone

And shepherd of the fold;

Within these sacred portals

The Gospel still is told

Of Christ's Church marching on.
